Bad Mistakes

In Bremerton, WA this week, a 9 year old boy brought a loaded gun to school. The gun accidentally went off and wounded a classmate. When reached for comment, the boy’s father said his son, “made a bad mistake”. No. Using conditioner instead of shampoo is a bad mistake.

This is bad parenting, yet again. The gun supposedly belonged to the boy’s mother. The boy grew up with a troubled family life (shocking). This is a quote from the Seattle times. I can’t say in any better than them.

“When he (the boy) was 2 ½, police found methamphetamine and syringes in his mother’s belongings, court documents say. Later that same month, Chaffin (the mother) was charged with forgery after trying to cash stolen checks. She was later convicted.

When he was 3 ½, Chaffin was charged with selling marijuana out of a Kitsap motel. By this point, she had four children, according to court records. Meanwhile, Jason Cochran (the father) was convicted of domestic violence for assaulting Chaffin. He later violated the protection order. He repeatedly failed to pay child support and was held in contempt.”

Finally, the parents relinquished their parental rights. Sadly, the boy’s life didn’t get any better. He and his siblings were adopted by their grandmother who soon died of cancer. Since then, they have lived with an uncle, who is currently out of work.

First off, this woman was able to have four children. That’s not a bad mistake. That’s society fucking itself over. At no point should these people been allowed to reproduce. To quote Bill Burr, “they just don’t have the genetic material”. While these parasites were ruining their children’s lives, as well as wasting your taxes, we stood idly by and let them continue FOUR times.

So now we have this child who has grown up in this unhealthy environment. He will have to live with this tragic event forever. His classmate is wounded. You and I are paying for all of this. Literally. Our tax money is paying for this.

Naturally the parents are at fault. I’m sure they will be punished. Right? Nope.

“If the boy is found guilty of the charges, he could be ordered to spend up to 30 days in juvenile detention and 12 months on the juvenile version of probation and to perform 150 hours of community service.”

Ok, but the parents will be punished right? Nope.

“‘We do not hold people very accountable in this state for leaving guns around the house with small children,’ Sen. Adam Kline said… He would consider a bill to address it during the next legislative session next year, but didn’t sound hopeful of its chances.”

Are you fucking kidding me? This child who is just barely getting bored with Legos could spend a month in Juvenile Detention, but the parents get nothing? To be fair, the police are “investigating” the matter. Seriously. This is the society in which we live. Parents are permitted to destroy their children’s lives (and the lives of others) with no retribution.

The solution is simple. STOP LETTING ANYONE AND EVERYONE HAVE CHILDREN. Time has proven that having children should not be a right. It should be a privilege that needs to be earned. The sad reality is that some people simply shouldn’t be allowed to have children. I know I rant about this all the time, but when will people start listening, let alone do anything about it?
