    Generation Moron

I have noticed, lately, that we have an epidemic of stupid. Now, I know I complain about stupid people all the time, but I’m mainly talking about the generation after mine. The people born in the 90s. They seem to be the “now” generation. All they think about is right now. They can’t think about the future and consequences. They don’t care about history because, “that was a long time ago”.

    Common Decency

By request, here’s my rant about common decency. Or lack thereof. It so happened that I was driving today. The car in front of me was a minivan driving a little faster than a snail. They had an “I love Twilight” sticker, but I think that’s just a coincidence. As we were walking driving, I was patient. Perhaps they were lost. Perhaps the person in front of them was slow. Then they proceeded to get on the highway. As we were turning onto the on ramp, and just as I got the “yellow arrow”, they stopped. In the middle of the lane. They stopped. Now both of us are in the middle…

    Judging People

I tend to think of myself as smugly superior. Smugly superior for judging people based on their personalities, not their looks, I mean. Oops. Forgot to add that clarification. Anyway, it occurs to me, that it might not be as good as it sounds.

    The Oddity of Culture

I find the concept of culture interesting. Humans find group acceptance through culture. Part of their identity comes from the culture. Naturally, culture evolves over time. The more open minded you are when it comes to interracial relationships, the more cultures will blend. When you think about it, lots of things are part of our culture that we don’t realize. Let’s say that your family has pasta every Thursday. That’s part of your culture. One definition of “culture” is “a set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization, or group“.

Why Physical Discipline is Physical Abuse

Let’s talk about physical discipline. There are two lines of thought about it. One says that it has existed forever, that their parents did it, and that it “worked for them”. The other side of the argument is that it is physical abuse, is a crime both legally and morally, and that it is ineffective. Obviously I take the latter view. Here I shall explain why. In full disclosure, I was physically disciplined as a child, so my views are biased. At the end, I have included source information. I highly encourage everyone on both sides of this issue to read the last source.

    Adoption Again

I had a short, though frustrating, conversation yesterday with someone. We were talking about how Steve Jobs was adopted. I said that the biological parents should be rewarded for giving their child a chance through adoption. He said that it was the parents obligation to raise the child and if they couldn’t raise the child, they shouldn’t have sex.

    Birth Control Legislation

Effective August 2012, all health plans must cover birth control and preventative screenings for women. The conservatives are against this because, well, because liberals support the idea. Now I may have voiced my opinions on reproduction in the past. I know. I never speak my mind. Anyway, my argument has been that people are having children, but not raising them properly. They grow up in dysfunctional family systems (addiction, abuse, neglect, etc), but society has brainwashed everyone to think that having children is the end-all/be-all of human life. So rather than treat the psychological and physical effects of this trauma, they just have their own children and pass the trauma…

    Adoption Vs. Abortion

I heard someone say “I don’t believe in adoption” recently. First off, you don’t “believe” in it? Like you don’t think it’s real? Secondly, saying “I don’t believe in adoption” is basically saying “I don’t believe in putting my child first” or “I don’t believe in giving my child a chance at a happy life”. Now, I won’t get into the debate about when life starts. I don’t care. For the sake of this post, let’s say that it’s a living organism that could grow into another fucked up person. As a parent, you have the ability, nay OBLIGATION, to raise the child to be a productive member of society.…
