Chris Explains Country Lyrics to Black People
A few months ago, I did an article where I explained rap lyrics to white people. To build on that success, here’s the opposite. I’m going to try to explain country lyrics to black people. Hopefully with more conversations like this, we can build relationships, and end the cultural misunderstandings.
Today, I’m going to translate “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy”, by Kenny Chesney. It was written, I assume, to Chesney’s sister, and appears on the Everywhere We Go album in 1999.
“Plowin’ these fields in the hot summer sun. Over by the gate, lordy here she comes with a basket full of chicken and a big cold jug of sweet tea. I make a little room and she climbs on up. Open up a throttle and stir a little dust. Just look at her face she ain’t a foolin’ me.”
Ugh. I don’t get it either.
