Coffee Table Refit

Many years ago, I bought a glass coffee table. I really liked it. It had a slight curve, was sturdy, and just fit my style.

Then I got bored. So I found this spray paint called Beach Glass. I decided to give it a try.

Since I didn’t want the paint to get damaged, and since the table was glass, I decided to paint the bottom of the table. That way the paint would show through the top, but the top would be normal glass. This project took for fucking ever. You’ll need a glass table, lots of cardboard, spray paint, painter’s tape, an exacto or box cutter, and a lot of free time.

I decided on a honey comb design, because my logo is based on honey combs, and I like them. I had recently purchased a large item on Amazon, so I used that box to cut out the hexagons. I had a cup that had a hexagon shape, and was a size I liked, so I traced it. Over. And over. And over again.

Then I had to cut out each hexagon. One. At a time. Luckily, I had some help with that.

The problem with card board, is it didn’t give me a clean edge. I probably should have used paper, but that would have required a lot more tape.

First, I painted black. The black would go around the honey combs. Next, I removed the cardboard, and painted the blue. Since I was basically working upside down, the blue would shine through the unpainted honeycombs, but not through the black.

This coffee table had a lower shelf, and the process was the same for both.

When I was all done, I put some clear coat on it, and put it back together.
